The Hungry Caterpillar

As MX grows, the chances of me dressing her up slowly diminishes as well.  Very soon, she'll start dissing the outfits that I pick out.  I bought tickets for us to watch The Hungry Caterpillar puppet show and took the chance to dress her up with this caterpillar tee that I put together using felt and lots of blanket stitches :)

When she woke up from her nap and saw the tee, she frowned and turned to questioned me, "Why is the caterpillar like this?  Caterpillar is not supposed to be like this... It is eating the wrong food." ... nitpicking at every single detail.

MX rattled on and on, without showing any delight upon seeing the tee and it broke my heart.

However, when she finally pulled the top over her head, I could see the joy in her face. 

She reacted similarly when she saw the princess cake that I made for her.  She wasn't pleased when she saw it. Instead, she ran to the couch and started sobbing after seeing the princess cake.  Her reactions to these little surprises always takes me by surprise.  I'll try not to feel too disappointed in future.

MX refused to pose for pictures with the puppets at the end of the show.  She told me matter of factly, "Mama, it is ok, they are just puppets.  It is not real.  No need to take pictures." 

In the end, I managed to capture this shot.  All thanks to the puppeteer who probably knew just how badly I wanted a picture of MX with the caterpillar.  

New McD @ ECP

Went to the new McDonald's @ ECP.  It was fun watching MX interact with YM and Lisa.

The kids had fun sitting on this stone dish that was right in front of McD.

It is a pity, I guess MX stuffed her tiny tummy with too much fries and MILO, she threw everything up after her drinking her milk.

MX cooks up a storm!

MX and I have been busy cooking and baking (",) I decided to turn out little kitchen adventure into some videos that she can watch when she is free.  Here's a video of her baking oatmeal raisin cookies.

Lastly, here's me attempting her princess cake for her 3rd birthday.

Snickledoodles - holiday activity 2

On to the next holiday activity with MX (",)

Snickledoodles!  

This cookie is actually a simple butter cookie coated with sugar and cinnamon. It makes the whole house smell heavenly during the whole baking process.

MX's vocabulary really grew as she picked up words like cream of tartar, spatula, parchment paper etc. from the baking videos that she watches. 

This time, I decided to let her have a go at most of the baking process.  She had to mix in the dry ingredients and spoon out the baking powder and cream of tartar.

She insisted on breaking the eggs, which I allowed her to try.  She said "Oops!" when she cracked an egg so hard that the entire contents fell into the bowl.

Yup, she even had a go at the handheld mixer.

MX waited for what seemed like forever for her cookies to be ready.  We ended up with overly sweet cookies which MX loved... urgh!  For the rest of the batter, I coated the dough with only cinnamon powder and left out the sugar.

Skinny pizza - holiday activity 1

MX claims that she loves to cook.  Well, kids always tell the truth right?  So I guess she must love cooking (",) 

This is the first activity that I am trying out with her during the June holiday. 

MX had to lay the burrito warp out on the wired rack and spread pasta sauce on it. 

Next, she 'sprinkled' (in her own words) mozzarella and cheddar cheese onto the wrap.

She snacked a little on the cucumber slices that was supposed to go on top of the cheese. 

Into the oven the skinny pizza went ... for about 5-7mins and MX's little lunch treat was ready (",)

Fun with sand

MX loves playing with the sand at the beach but she fears the waves.  She'll walk bravely towards the receding waves but as they rush towards her, she'll scurry away. 

We took her to the beach along the East Coast and it was a really great day to be outdoors as the weather wasn't warm at all (",)

Nail art for MX

Like all little girls, MX loves girlie things.  

One thing she loves, is nail art.. I love doing it for her, but it usually take ages and by the time I'm done, i'll be seeing stars coz her nails are simply tooOooo tiny.
